Inclement Weather & Bus Cancellations

In case of unsafe road conditions, please listen to local radio and television stations for the announcements of bus cancellations or delays, or sign up for automatic email notifications of delays at

Decisions about canceling transportation services usually occur very early in the morning of a school day, and are based on the latest information about road conditions and weather forecasts.  Due to the large geographic area, many different weather conditions may exist at the same time throughout the district, as a result, some transportation services may be cancelled for one area and not another. Please note, in the event of bus cancellations, schools will remain open, unless stated otherwise. If the Board decides to close schools, this information is communicated through local media. This is an extremely rare occurrence.

If buses are cancelled in the morning, they will not run in the afternoon. Any students who are driven to school on a bus cancellation day MUST be picked up at the end of the day from school.

Please be sure that you have discussed with your child the appropriate procedure to be followed in emergency weather situations. It is the parents’ responsibility to determine whether or not it is safe for their children to go to school in inclement or severe weather. During the day, worsening weather or road conditions, mechanical or electrical breakdown of essential school facilities, or power failure may require early school dismissal. In this event, the school will follow their emergency plan to dismiss students. Contact your school’s principal for more information about individual school emergency response plans.
