The Limestone District School Board is seeking expression of interests for student members of the Community Equity Advisory Committee(CEAC). This is an opportunity for secondary students, (entering grades 11 or 12 in September 2023), to make an impact for equity and inclusion board-wide to help every student in LDSB feel accepted and safe in the learning environment. Where every student is represented, and diverse voices of students are expressed.

We want everyone who learns, works, or volunteers in LDSB to value diversity, demonstrate respect for others, and commit to establishing a just, caring society. We know that diversity enriches the educational experience of everyone.

Interested students should indicate in their expression of interest how they will offer diverse perspectives and/or lived experiences including (but not limited to) Anti-Black Racism, Anti-Indigenous Racism, Antisemitism, Ableism/Disabilities, Homophobia, Transphobia, Islamophobia, and/or Poverty/Classism.

Students can express their interest using the CEAC Expression of Interest Form here by June 19, 2023.

  • Students must be entering grades 11 or 12 in September 2023 with LDSB and be willing to commit to attending meetings 4 times a yearMeetings occur between 5:30-7:00 pm at the LDSB Education Centre (Kingston) with a virtual option

  • Students should indicate in their expression of interest how they will offer diverse perspectives and/or lived experiences including (but not limited to) Anti-Black Racism, Anti-Indigenous Racism, Antisemitism, Ableism/Disabilities, Homophobia, Transphobia, Islamophobia, and/or Poverty/Classism.

  • The term of student members of the committee shall be 1 year with the possibility of a one-year extension.  

  • Student members will be provided with volunteer hours.

The applications will be reviewed by the Human Rights and Equity Advisor, Equity Curriculum Consultants, and Superintendent of Education (Equity Portfolio). All applicants will be notified about the status of their application on June 20, 2023.
