Font Size: A+ A- Reset

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is a standardized test designed to “determine weather a student has the reading and writing skills required to meet the standards of the Ontario Curriculum across all subjects up to the end of grade nine.” Successful demonstration of literacy is a graduation requirement for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Generally, students will complete the OSSLT during their Grade 10 year at Frontenac.

This year, the OSSLT will be administered to all current Grade 10 students completing an OSSD on TBD (2025-2026 year).

Students at Frontenac will be prepared for this test through a series of lessons in their regular classes geared towards reading comprehension and written communication. They will also be provided with numerous resources, including access to online classrooms and supports.

Students are encouraged to access the EQAO Practice version of the OSSLT, which can be found on their website or by clicking here.

For more information, join your student in exploring the Frontenac MindsOnline OSSLT Preparation Resource, which can be found in their MindsOnline dashboard. This resource includes useful links to additional preparation resources, answers to all questions related to the OSSLT, and more!
