What is a Specialist High Skills Major?
The Specialist High Skills Major is (SHSM) an innovative program that enables students to customize their high school experience to suit their interests and talents while preparing them for a successful post secondary transition into apprenticeship training, college, university, or direct entry to employment.
Frontenac secondary students will have the opportunity to enroll and participate in the sectors of Arts and Culture, Business, Construction or Health and Wellness SHSM programs.
The SHSM programs at FSS consist of the following elements:

2 coop credits (can be paid or volunteer - related to arts - ie peer tutoring, and job or work at camp) | 2 coop credits (should be related to Business, for example: Retail store, Company, Organization related to business, peer-tutoring Business or related courses) | 2 coop credits (can be paid or volunteer - related to construction) | 2 coop credits (can be paid or volunteer - related to Health and Wellness - Hospital, Veterinary clinic, Dentist office, Long-term Care facility, Lifeguarding etc.) |
