Frontenac has a proud tradition of excellence in Academics, the Arts and Athletics. There is also a wide variety of clubs and groups dedicated to serving the interests of all students. At Frontenac, there is something for everyone and we encourage all students to get involved to make the most of their time at school. Academic Excellence

Frontenac Secondary School boasts a long tradition of excellence in the areas of academics, post-secondary and career preparation. As one of the largest secondary schools in the Limestone District School Board and Kingston area, we are able to offer a wide variety of courses to suit students goals and interests. Whether students graduate and go directly to work, leave us for college then work, or choose university as their pathway to work, our graduates are well prepared. Our programs include Advanced Placement, Co-Operative Education, Dual Credits, Focus Programs, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs, School to Community, and Specialist High Skills Major. In addition to our excellent mainstream academic programming, students who have participated in French Immersion programming in elementary school can continue their studies with Extended and Immersion French at Frontenac Secondary School.

For more information on what courses we offer, please check out our Course Calendar.

What is Advanced Placement (AP)?

Advanced Placement (AP) courses allow students to reach ahead and complete University level content while still in high school. Advanced Placement provides flexibility for students to customize their timetable based on their preferences and students can opt to take all or only those of interest. AP courses are offered to students in their grade 12 year and the final exams are administered by the College Board in the United States.
What AP courses do we offer?

  • English Literature and Composition
  • Calculus AB
  • Physics 1: Algebra-Based
