It looks like we made it! With exams and final culminating activities nearing conclusion we have noted a decrease in the number of students in the hallways, but an increase in smiles and joyous cheers for a job well done! We wish everyone a great summer holiday. Summer office hours will mostly be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. With summer maintenance scheduled at Frontenac and Acadie, it is advised to call ahead to confirm that you will be able to access the main office. They can be reached at 613-389-2130 ext. 325.

FSS Admin

While this may be the last newsletter some of you receive from us, it is the first for families joining the Falcon Community in September! We are already looking forward to meeting the class of 2030 at 9:00 am on August 26th. To the Class of 2026, we can't wait to celebrate your achievements with you at our Graduation Ceremony next week! Thank you to Mr Bonham-Carter for pressing pause on his retirement to help out the past six weeks. Your past experiences of knowing staff and students helped to end the year with tremendous success. Beginning on Monday, our staff will begin the process of cleaning out lockers. Students were encouraged to bring all items home or return to the school. Any items of value that are left behind, will be placed in our lost and found area near the main office.

FSS Arts

A Remarkable Year in the Arts at FSS

What a year it has been for the arts at Frontenac!

Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, our students explored, created, performed, collaborated, and inspired. From the classroom to the stage, rehearsal spaces to hallways, the arts were alive and thriving at FSS.

This year marked the exciting introduction of both Dance and Vocal Music credits, which quickly became favourites among students. Alongside these new offerings, students also engaged in Instrumental Music, Guitar, Drama, Creative Writing, Visual Arts and media courses, developing their skills, creativity, and confidence throughout the year.

Beyond the classroom, students found connection and community through a wide range of extracurricular opportunities. Our arts programs included three levels of Concert Band, Jazz Band, Vocal, Percussion and String ensembles, Improv Team, Cheerleading, Guitar Campfire Club, a Full Scale Production, and our dedicated Tech Club. Our tech students supported countless events and performances by designing and programming sound, lighting, and special effects.

The year was filled with memorable artistic experiences. Students brought adventure to life on stage in our production of Treasure Island: A New Adventure, shared their talents at two Coffee Houses, and performed in two major concerts. Our band students were also recognized for their excellence at the Kiwanis Music Festival and the Festival of Music at Canada's Wonderland. Throughout the year, arts students enriched school assemblies and events with music, performances, artwork, and creativity.

Our visual artists left a lasting mark on FSS through murals, set pieces, displays, and countless other artistic contributions that have helped make our school a more vibrant and welcoming place. We were also proud to celebrate several students who earned recognition and awards for their achievements in creative writing.

Last week, we gathered for our annual Arts Banquet to celebrate these accomplishments and recognize the incredible students who make up our arts community. The evening was filled with laughter, memories, awards, and heartfelt farewells as we honoured our graduating arts students (pictured).

Thank you to every student, staff member, volunteer, and supporter who helped make this such a successful year. The arts at FSS continue to thrive because of the passion, dedication, and creativity of our school community.

We can't wait to do it all again next year!

Students interested in getting involved should watch for information in September and be sure to save the date for Arts Camp at Camp Iawah on September 29–30—our annual overnight kickoff filled with creativity, collaboration, community, and arts-filled fun.

Here's to another incredible year of creating, performing, and connecting through the arts at FSS!

Attached below are some photos from the final music performance on Monday, June 8th.

FSS Athletics

This is a final call for athletes to return their jerseys to their coach or Ms. Pixley immediately. Last week we wrapped up another fantastic Athletic Year at Frontenac! Our Falcons competed from September to June with grit, heart, and skill after putting in hours of practice after school hours. The athletic banquet not only recognizes team accomplishments, and there were many, we also recognized individuals for their community work, sportsmanship, connection to all aspects of the school, and of course, being excellent student-athletes. Thank you to our MC‘s for the evening, Jack Day, Taylor Tonelli, Izzy Blackburn, Ella McCourt, Creighton McKenzie, and Caelan Fraser.

Listed below are the major award winners for the 2025-26 school year. Year End Letter to Students and Parents

The Honourable Paul Calandra, Minister of Education has shared a letter for students, parents and families:

Dear Students, Parents and Families,

To our amazing students: well done on finishing another school year! This is a good time to celebrate everything you have accomplished over the past several months. You worked hard, took on challenges, learned new things and continued to grow. You should be proud of all you have achieved this year.

As you begin your summer break, take time to rest, explore your interests, and enjoy time with family and friends. However you choose to spend your summer, I hope you make the most of the months ahead.

To the graduating Class of 2026, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Whether your next step is college, university, an apprenticeship, the workforce or another pathway, I wish you every success in the years ahead.

As families look ahead to September and the start of a new school year, there are a few things to keep in mind. Ontario schools will continue to focus on helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing and math while preparing them for success beyond the classroom. Students in elementary schools will learn from the same core materials and benefit from a revised Kindergarten curriculum focused on foundational literacy, math and science skills. In Grade 7 and 8, updated History courses will include new mandatory content on the history of Black Canadians.

In high schools, students in Grade 10 History will have new learning about Black history, the Holocaust and Holodomor. Students will also be required to demonstrate financial literacy as part of earning their high school diploma. To help provide clearer expectations and a more comprehensive picture of student achievement, high school students will complete written final exams during a dedicated exam period, and attendance and classroom participation will form part of their final grade. Together, these changes will help students stay engaged in their learning and be better prepared for life after graduation.

I hope the summer ahead provides an opportunity to recharge and enjoy some well-earned time together. I wish you and your family a safe, happy and enjoyable summer.

Sincerely,

The Honourable Paul Calandra Minister of Education

Year End Letter to Students, Parents, and Families from The Honourable Paul Calandra, Minister of Education - English (PDF)

Year End Letter to Students, Parents, and Families from The Honourable Paul Calandra, Minister of Education - French (PDF)

LDSB Students to Represent Canada at European Stock Sport Championships

In August 2026, four Limestone District School Board (LDSB) students will represent the Canadian Ice Stock Federation (CISF) at the U16 European Stock Sport Championships in Oberwart, Austria.

Representing Loughborough Public School are Caleb Hammer and Preston Klein, both in their final year of elementary school. They will be joined by Jayden Kermeen of Frontenac Secondary School and Lucas Hammer of Sydenham High School.

Often described as a combination of curling and bocce, stock sport originated centuries ago in the Alpine regions of Austria and Germany. Players slide a stock toward a target, known as a daube, using precision and strategy to place it closer than their opponents. While the sport began on ice, it is now played on both ice and non-ice surfaces using specialized equipment.

This August’s European Championships will mark the first time a Canadian youth team has competed in an international stock sport event. The team will compete against athletes from several nations in Austria, widely considered the heart of the sport. These LDSB students are not only representing Canada—they are making history. This experience will also provide a unique opportunity for international competition and cultural exchange.

To help offset travel and accommodation costs, the team has been actively fundraising and seeking sponsorship support. Tickets are $25 and include schnitzel, sauerkraut, and German potato salad. Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.

The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.

After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year. Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.

Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.

Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture. As a publicly funded school board, we have both a legal and moral responsibility to create learning environments where everyone can see themselves reflected and feel a sense of belonging.

This will include textbooks as well as library books. If students need to keep their textbooks in order to study for their exams, they will bring their textbooks and return them at their exam. Students who forget to bring their textbooks to their exams will be expected to return them to the main office the following day. If there are any questions, concerns or errors regarding the books signed out to students, they should come talk to Ms. Purbhoo in the Library Learning Commons as soon as possible. Amnesty will be given for all books that belong to Frontenac and Acadie as well.

Students are also able to return computers to the library if they are not needed for the rest of the school year and they do not anticipate needing them based on course selections for next year. For students that have computers and do anticipate needing them for next year, we are asking families to store them safely at home for the summer and to perform system updates during the last week of August to have them ready for school in September. Any questions related to school board computers can be forwarded to Mark McKenna at mckennam@limestone.on.ca.

FSS Computing

On June 1, we sent 18 students to participate in Sydenham High School’s inaugural SHS Hack-A-Thon event, the first hackathon within our board. At this year’s event, students were challenged to address the negative impact of increasing smartphone use on Canadian youth. Students then had the entire day to come up with a tech solution to help with the problem. This was an opportunity for them to collaborate, be creative, and apply technical skills across a variety of domains. In teams of 2 to 5 members, our students brainstormed, programmed, improvised, created artwork, and presented their apps or games to a panel of judges from industry and academia. Some students also took the chance to network and form new friendships with like-minded people from other teams.

Triboard

The submission deadline to have applications processed for the first day of school is August 5, 2026.

<img src="/images/6d6e4dbb-7640-463a-8b14-d5e43958b132?fingerprint=ppb20260424173933"&fingerprint=ppb20260424173933 alt="Tri Board Deadline2026" width="437" height="327" style="boxSizing:border-box;borderStyle:none;height:327px;maxWidth:100%;objectFit:cover;display:inline-block;width:437px">

Summer Session

Registration for Summer Session is open!
